LEADERS Droitwich Spa avoided a potential banana skin against the Midland League Division One’s basement side with a 7-0 thrashing of Continental Star at King George’s Playing Fields.

They are on the road at Leamington Hibernian on Saturday (3pm) with a 10-point buffer at the top over Alvis Sporting Club who have eight games in hand.

Spa dominated against Star and Haydn Morris opened the scoring early on with a superb strike from Nick Seabourne’s cross that crashed in off the bar.

Jamie Smith extended the lead after a neat one-two with Bridges on the edge of the area as he fired home confidently beyond keeper Dante Belle.

Louis Bridges broke his home duck when Seabourne’s chest down into his path was finished expertly.

Before the break Morris scored again, tapping in the rebound after Jack Allerton’s powerful shot from the edge of the area was deflected on to the post.

Bridges scored his second with a fine chip from the edge of the box a few minutes into the second half.

Then a powerful low cross from Bridges found centre-back Matty Hunt who connected sweetly for goal number six.

Belle kept out Bridges, Seabourne and James Lemon before the latter notched his first goal on his return from a lengthy injury for his 13th of the season.
