CONNOR Collins cracked home a hat-trick to help Fairfield Villa pull off a fortunate 3-2 win over Earlswood Town to enhance their chances of a top four finish in Midland League Division Two this term.
Although Collins converted early to put Villa ahead, it was Earlswood who had the better of first half exchanges and led 2-1 at the break through goals from Dan Jarrett and Steve Nurse.
Collins clawed Villa back level from the penalty after Earlswood were reduced to 10 men.
And it was Collins who converted the winner, taking his tally to 30 goals for the season.
Villa spokesman Paul Oakes said: "We were well below par and second best for most of the game.
"After booking our place in the President's Cup Final the previous week, this was definitely a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show."
Villa are due to face local rivals Redditch Borough in the Evesham Hospital Cup semi-final tonight (Tuesday), with the winners set to take on Inkberrow in the final at Evesham United's ground next month.
Villa will be bidding for further silverware when they face Alvis Sporting Club in the President's Cup Final which takes place at Stourport Swifts' Walshes Meadow ground on Tuesday, May 9.
In the meantime, Villa have no fixture over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend but instead travel to title chasing Paget Rangers next Tuesday night.
