BROMSGROVE Tennis Club's Men's F Team kicked off their Herefordshire and Worcestershire Summer League Division Nine East campaign against the newly formed Men’s G.

The first round of matches went to the F team who opened up a 3-0 lead following a number of keenly fought games.

Captain Rob Kindon and junior Charlie Tait spearheaded the charge defeating deputy captain Giles Hyder and Barry Ross 6-1 6-1 in the opening rubber.

They were ably supported by Mark Wilson and Paul Douglas beating Stewart Roney and Brian Taylor 6-4 6-2.

Junior Tom Round in his debut senior match and his partner Josh Baldwick proved too strong for their opposition Dave Pugh and Fabrice Vinson, triumphing 6-1 6-1.

In the second round of matches Kindon and Tait beat Pugh and Vinson 6-2 6-0 with Baldwick and Round cruising to a 6-0 6-0 win against Roney and Taylor.

As darkness fell Wilson and Douglas completed the rout overcoming Hyder and Ross 6-4 6-4.

Ultimately the combination of experience and fitness prevailed with the F Team completing a 6-0 victory to claim maximum points and the all important bragging rights.

Rob Kindon said: "It was good to see both juniors, especially Tom, play so well for a senior team. We have a number of juniors that we are keen to blood in the F and G teams to further their development and progression to higher squads.

"A number of the senior players are definitely looking over their shoulders and competition for places can only be good for the club."
