BUSY Bromsgrove Sporting boss Paul Smith has moved quickly to boost last season's unbeaten championship winning squad by making three new signings in preparation for life in the Midland Premier Division next term.

Smith has swooped to capture Redditch United wideman Jordan Jones, Coleshill Town left back Josh Quaynor and one-time West Bromwich Albion prospect Joe Ward who spent much of last season out on loan at National League Premier side Torquay United.

A delighted Smith said: "They are three top, top, signings and I've been lucky to get them.

"But there are still one or two more signings that I'm hoping top get tied up by the end of the week."

Jordan Jones previously had a spell with National League North side Kidderminster Harriers before joining Reds.

Smith added: "He operates down the right flank and has a great engine. He gets up and down the pitch really quickly and fits into what we're trying to do.

"Josh Quaynor, was, in my opinion, the best left back in the Midland League last season and played a big part in Coleshill reaching the FA Vase semi-finals and finishing runners-up behind Alvechurch in the league.

"Joe Ward arrives having fallen out of love with professional football.

"He's looking to start a university course at the end of August and had his contract terminated by West Bromwich Albion.

"When I heard he'd been released by Albion, I contacted him out of the blue. I knew there was a great deal of interest from other clubs - and to be honest - I didn't think I stood a chance of signing him.

But it turns out we suit him perfectly as he's looking to start his own business, which requires him to embark on a university course.

"He'd been approached by some top non league sides, but it seems we're just right for him at the moment.

"Joe is 20-years-old and can play just off the front man, or up front himself.

"I've put him on contract, only the second player behind Jason Cowley, with a 12 month deal.

"The next priority will be to sign a goalkeeper. I've already spoken to five or six, which I've now narrowed down to two."

Smith also stressed: "I've invited all the players from last season's squad back for pre-season training. They were all brilliant for me last season and I owe them that.

"However, it's obvious they can't all go with me for next season, so it's inevitable that some players from last season's squad will fall by the wayside.

"There's no major work required, the squad just needs a little bit of tweaking - but not before everyone has been given a chance.

"I want to get everything tied up before we all embark on our post-season training camp."
