BROMSGROVE Ladies have been left clinging onto top spot in the Hereford and Worcester Tennis League after bouncing back from defeat against Stourbridge to snap up a superb 5-1 success over Leominster.

Top pair of Imogen Sinclair and Racheal Mak proved the star turn for Bromsgrove against Stourbridge by winning both their contests.

But despite their best efforts, the pairings of Sally Franks and Katherine Smedley together with Veronika Kumherova and Jill Witcombe just couldn't add an extra rubber to avoid defeat.

Bromsgrove made amends against Leominster which again saw the pairings of Imogen Sinclair and Rachael Mak together with Veronika Kumherova and Katherine Smedley winning both their rubbers in two sets.

Sally Franks and Jill Witcombe then opened with a 6-0, 6-1 win but couldn't get the better of Leominster's top pair following a tense three setter, which they lost 3-6 in the last set.

Bromsgrove captain Sally Franks said: "The team bounced back well after the Stourbridge loss. I tweaked the pairings and it seemed to work."

Bromsgrove Men's D team had a day to forget when they travelled to face runaway Division 5E leaders David Lloyd Worcester.

Junior Tom Round stepped up into the side together with veteran Allan Colley but they couldn't make any impact as the Worcester side won 6-0.
