THE Worcester club hosted the Droitwich Sprint Triathlon from the town's leisure centre in their third and final race of the 2017 season.

Sunshine and pleasant temperatures were ideal for racing and the event was a great success with 226 competitors completing the distance.

It consisted of a 400-metre, 16-length pool swim, 20-kilometre bike section and 5km run.

Participants ranged from Great Britain triathletes to first-timers with finishing times spanning less than an hour to more than two.

Competition was tight in the men's category with five coming in in under an hour.

Victory went to Worcester Triathlon Club and Team Echelon member Dan Geisler in 58 minutes six seconds thanks in part to a storming 17.06 run leg.

Geisler then donned his fluorescent jacket to fulfil his club duties as a marshal for the rest of the event.

Less than a minute separated the top three with Kevin Lane (TriKS) and Lee Suthard (Starley Cycles) finishing in 58.38 and 58.48 respectively.

The women's category was won by Hannah Lancaster of Ludlow Junior Triathlon Club in 1.05.54.

Finola Corley and Toni Senior (Do3 Coaching) completed the podium in 1.09.54 and 1.10.15 respectively.

Training continues for Worcester with open water swimming at Upton Warren until September and pool swimming, cycling and running sessions all year round.
