BARNT Green felt the full force of Knowle and Dorridge's New Zealand sensation George Worker who has been taking the Birmingham League by storm this season.

Worker is already close to recording 1,000 runs for the season despite having only played 10 games.

The Kiwi took his total for the season to 968 after scoring 63 against Barnt Green.

But the Green hadn't seen the back of Worker who then returned to taunt them with the ball by taking seven for 32 from a 12.3 overs spell.

Worker had provided the foundation for a Knowle an Dorridge total of 282 for eight, with Warwickshire's Ateeq Javid supplying a further 62.

Barnt Green were then bowled out for 151 all out in reply and skipper Andy Sutton admitted: "We were beaten by a better side.

"Knowle and Dorridge are easily the best side we've played this season.

"They are a very workmanlike side, have plenty of experience and were better in the field.

"They also have a very talented overseas player in George Worker, so it's not difficult to see why they are top of the table.

"It would have been nice had we batted first, but that said, we were going well at one stage in our reply when at 120 for two through Tom Brown, who made 59,and Matt Lamb.

"But then Matt tries to sweep one and gets out and from that point, we were trying to block it for the draw.

"It's a shame, because for the past five weeks, we've been superb. We just weren't at our best but we'll continue to push hard and try to finish as high as we can.

"It didn't help that Tom Banton wasn't aware until Sunday morning that he hadn't been included in Somerset's NatWest T20 Blast squad to play Sussex Sharks.

"Had he known earlier, he would have driven up to play against Knowle and Dorridge."

Barnt Green will be without Tom Banton again this Saturday when they entertain Ombersley, as the opening batsman is on England Under-19 duty while Matt Lamb is likely to be required by Warwickshire.

However, Ombersley are almost certain to be without Worcestershire players Brett D'Oliveira and Ben Cox.
