IN-FORM Droitwich Rugby Club will be aiming to kick-start another cup run when they tackle visitors Walsall in the second round of the RFU Midlands Intermediate Cup on Saturday (2.15pm).

The Glyn Mitchell Memorial Ground side made a dream trip to Twickenham where they lost to Farnham in the RFU Senior Vase final in May.

And hopes of adding to that success have been boosted by the newly-promoted team’s impressive start to the Midlands Two West (South).

After a 73-10 victory at Old Yardleians and a 87-13 thrashing of Silhillians, Droitwich took to the field against Barkers Butts last Saturday full of confidence.

The Coventry side provided a stern test for Spa, but they made it three wins from three with a 15-7 triumph.

Droitwich are third, one point behind Malvern and leaders Evesham who have claimed maximum points from their first three fixtures.

Their cup opponents, Walsall, have had a mixed start to their season.

They are seventh in Midlands Two West (North) having after two defeats and one win.

Droitwich return to league action on Saturday, October 14 when they visit Berkswell and Balsall.
