BROMSGROVE Tennis Club returned to Winter League action this week but found the going tough.

The Mixed B team made the trip to Worcester where they faced some formidable opposition.

Although the opening round of matches proved tight affairs, the Bromsgrove pairings of Di Wilson with Alistair Liddle, together with Debbie Oliver and Max Feltham went down fighting, losing out in deciding three set battles.

The second round of matches also went Worcester's way, they won both in two sets to gain a convincing 4-0 victory.

Bromsgrove Ladies D team also had a difficult task on their hands when they travelled to take on a powerful Stourbridge side in Division 5E.

Stourbridge underlined exactly why they are top of the table as the Bromsgrove pairings of Beccy Smith and Steph Armstrong together with Marie Hackett and Lorraine Russell were unable to win a single rubber as they also lost out 4-0.

But there was better news for Bromsgrove's Mens Division 11E side who snapped up a 3-1 win over local rivals Droitwich.

Fabrice Vinson and Pete Morris led the way by winning both their rubbers in two sets.

Captain Martin German and Craig Horton lost a tight opening rubber before hitting back to win the final one 6-2, 6-1 and seal an important victory.
