Bromsgrove Sporting striker Jason Cowley has turned down the chance to speak with National League North outfit Nuneaton Town.

Cowley was given the chance to speak with the club on Tuesday after Nuneaton chairman Lee Thorne and manager Dino Maamria contacted Rouslers boss Paul Smith over his availability.

But the striker turned down the chance to discuss a move and insisted his focus is helping second-placed Sporting out of the division.

He said: “I am extremely flattered by the interest and I thank Nuneaton for it, but at this crucial time of the season, I want to finish the job we have started.

“I owe it to the fans, the boys and the gaffer to try and achieve our goals for the season."

Boss Smith added: “Jason is a top player and an even better lad so Nuneaton’s interest doesn’t surprise me.

“I firmly believe Jason will go onto play at a very good level of football. He has all the tools.

“Equally though, his commitment to us shows what sort of lad he is. We are lucky to have him.

“Hopefully, together we will achieve our goals this season.”
