BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough believes his side will probably have to win all their remaining games to stand any chance of obtaining promotion from Midlands One West this season.

It follows their slender 25-23 defeat this week at promotion rivals Dudley Kingswinford who have now gone 13 points clear to share top spot with Burton.

Inside centre Ed Spalding struck with a couple of tries while flanker Jake Abbott added another, scrum half Richard Mahoney kicking the remaining Bromsgrove points but it wasn't enough.

Protherough said: "With 13 games still to go there are still going to be a few twists and turns but we just have to keep plugging away.

"All credit to Dudley Kingswinford. They showed great resilience to nick the result, but if I was honest, neither side deserved to lose.

"It was a great advert for rugby at our level because both sides were totally committed at went at each other hammer and tongs.

"However, I didn't feel we had the rub of the green with the referee, especially at one incident where we destroyed their scrummage.

"But instead of awarding us a penalty, he penalised us for wheeling the scrum.

"It's inevitable if one side is going backwards that the scrum is going to naturally turn at some point.

"As a result, their penalty resulted in a try and that ultimately proved the difference.

"That said, we missed two golden opportunities to score in the first half when we were on top and finished up going in 15-15 at half time.

"But that shouldn't deter from what was a great game of rugby but we do need to bounce straight back at home to Hereford this Saturday".
