ANNOYED Alvechurch boss Ian Long has called on his players to cut out increasing individual errors after they were beaten 4-2 by Belper Town in Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South.

The defeat brought to an end, Church's impressive 10 match unbeaten league run as the Lye Meadow men conceded vital ground in their promotion push but Long insisted: "We were much the better side but I just cannot legislate for the errors we made."

It was a chapter of errors from the word go with prolific marksman Josh March missing a penalty when the score was at 0-0.

Long explained: "Tom Turton normally takes the penalties, but he was on the bench, so Josh stepped up, the keeper blocked it and Josh had a better chance to score from the rebound, but missed it.

"Dave Bellis then gave the ball away to let Belper in for their first goal.

"The second came when a free kick deflected in off the defensive wall.

"Then Zac Foster gets caught in possession for a third.

"Nathan Waite came on at half time, looked good, scored a goal and then had to go off with a pulled hamstring. It just seemed that everything that could have gone wrong, did.

"The frustrating thing is that we played some really good football at times. At one stage, even their manager, Aaron Webster, the former Burton Albion player stood and applauded.

"But we have to do better in the final third of the pitch."

Church travel to Lincoln United this Saturday and Long confirmed he could have a couple of new signings on board.
