FAIRFIELD Villa failed to add another trophy to their collection this season when beaten 3-1 in the Les James Cup final by Midland League Division Two champions NKF Burbage.

Having captured the Worcestershire Junior Cup the previous week, Villa went into the final, which was played at Sutton Coldfield Town's Coles Lane ground, full of confidence and took the game to Burbage in the first half.

Villa deservedly took the lead when James Finn netted from a corner but Burbage managed to level before half time when goalkeeper Aaron Collins could only turn a shot onto the post, presenting a simple tap-in.

Burbage were the better side in the second half and took the lead when bundling the ball home from a corner before breaking clear to bag a third following a one-on-one situation where the unlucky Collins saved twice before being beaten at the third attempt.

It brings the curtain down on Villa's season - but already there are exciting times ahead as local pub The Swan have agreed to sponsor Villa's newly formed reserve side for next season which will compete in the Midland League Reserve Division.
