DROITWICH Spa ended their Worcestershire Cricket League season in style with two resounding victories including the derby demolition of Himbleton.

Pivotal to the 10-wicket victory for Spa firsts in Division Two were opening bowlers Phil Thomas and Max Young who cut down the Meadow Boys in emphatic fashion.

Having shared nine wickets the previous weekend against Enville, the devastating duo went one better to claim five apiece as the hosts were dismissed for just 77 with only opener Richard Sugden (27) offering resistance.

In reply, Young launched his first ball for six and two more maximums quickly followed.

Martyn Davies followed suit and a further flurry of boundaries saw Spa race to their victory target inside 10 overs with the batsmen finishing unbeaten on 35 and 37 respectively.

The result secured fifth spot for Spa ahead of next summer's league restructure.

The seconds rounded off their first summer in Division One by defeating Hagley by 155 runs.

An opening stand of 180 between Jez Hanson (116) and James King (76) provided a foundation to a Spa score of 325-6 that was boosted by Jonny Keen (44) and Ajay Kumar (26 not out).

Kumar (4-46) then shone with the ball to remove Hagley’s top four including the dangerous Ben Perry (46) and Simon Burgess (37) who both hit two sixes and briefly threatened a run-chase.

With both back in the pavilion, Adam Keen and Rhys John then mopped up to finish with three wickets each as the visitors finally succumbed for 170 in the 35th over.
