MANAGER John Snape's view that "both sides will be disappointed with a point" summed up an errant afternoon for Worcester City.

Snape's men could have been beaten by half-time yet having reached the break level, let slip a second-half lead to draw 1-1 with Lye Town at the Victoria Ground.

The crux of the problem was missed chances according to Worcester's boss but responsibility was shared for an off-colour showing in which his side "were short in six or seven areas".

“No disrespect to Lye, at home and in front of a decent crowd I expected us to be down their throats," said Snape.

“We did not start very well. From our kick-off they had a throw in front of the dugout because we did not keep the ball well enough and that seemed to set the tone.

“To be honest we struggled to get a foothold in the game. Mat Birley took a knock and should have come off sooner and we were grateful for two wonderful saves by Dan Jezeph which kept them at bay.

“We were disappointed to have to adjust at half-time but we only made one change instead of two. I can’t beat myself up too much about that because we knew Tyler (Weir) and Chris (Withington) had knocks.

“We got ourselves a good goal and produced some good moves, when we did pass it with a purpose we made multiple chances but again did not work the goalkeeper. Across the game we were poor in forward areas, we were not good enough.

“Joe Bates, Kyonn Evans and Jordan Harrison two or three times were guilty of it. James Baldwin came on and got into great positions but took the wrong options."

The goal City shipped also came under the spotlight with Snape frustrated by the initial pass inside from Baldwin as much as Jezeph being beaten from 35 yards.

“We should have been managing the game but played a blind square pass across the halfway line," he added.

"I don’t like those passes at the best of times and the players are fully aware of that. Then we didn’t close down and the goalkeeper got beaten from an angle which made me feel we were all at fault.

“The game became stretched after that, mostly in our favour and again we were guilty of missing chances that were probably going in a month ago.

“If confidence is low I don’t know why, we’re on a nine-game unbeaten run. There were a few harsh words afterwards because we were short in six or seven areas.

“We are a point off where I expect us to be now. I think both sides will be disappointed with a point."
