BROMSGROVE romped to an 8-0 thrashing of county rivals Evesham in their West Midlands Division One opener.
Matt Russell and Paul Yates both scored twice, while Joel Grace, Carl Troth, Devon Edwards and Russell McGettigan all found the target to get their side off to a flyer.
Despite a goal glut, it was Bromsgrove's defensive display that pleased first team captain Julian Court.
"The thing that pleased me was that we defended very well, because it was a very tight game for the first 20 minutes," he said.
"I said at half time whatever we do we are capable of scoring goals.
"Evesham's heads dropped in the second half and we took advantage of that.
"We have a great team spirit that I haven't experienced here for years."
Bromsgrove travel to Rugeley on Saturday and Court is expecting a pragmatic approach from their opponents.
"Rugeley play some very awkward route one hockey so it is going to be a really tough test," he added.
