Court unhappy at Town’s ‘non-event’

CAPTAIN Julian Court described his Bromsgrove Hockey side's performance as "a non-event" after they were thrashed 5-0 by Evesham.

It was Bromsgrove's third defeat in their West Midlands League Division One campaign and put a huge dent in their promotion hopes.

And Court is hoping the result will prove to be a wake-up call to his players.

Evesham went into the break with a 1-0 lead and in the second half Bromsgrove were caught on the counter-attack chasing an equaliser.

"It was a shock and hopefully it will be a wake-up call," said Court.

"The scoreline flattered them a little bit but not much.

"We deserved to get nil. They scored early on and sat back."

Bromsgrove have a friendly with Droitwich on January 5 before returning to league action with a home clash against Rugeley on January 12.

"It is exactly the sort of game we would want after Christmas - the bottom side at home," Court added.

"We just need to get Christmas out of the way and start again.

"We have got Christmas to reflect on how poor we were so hopefully we will have learned our lesson."
