THE first round of the Mercian Swimming League held at Bromsgrove saw Droitwich Dolphins swimmers give a fine all round performance to secure second place.
Dolphins were edged out by Stratford Sharks, but finished ahead of Wyre Forest, Boldmere and Tamworth who were pushed back into the minor placings.
The under-10s were in fantastic form with Sam Cave winning both the freestyle and butterfly individual events.
Ruth Hadley was victorious in the freestyle and took second place in the butterfly.
The boys under-10s relay team of Sam Cave, Tom Garfield, Aaron Biddle and Charlie Arrowsmith won both the medley and freestyle events.
Second places in this age group were also achieved by Sophie Groves and Charlie Arrowsmith in the backstroke events.
The girls medley relay team of Sophie Groves, Lauren Rodgers, Ruth Hadley and Annie Scott also achieved second place.
In the 12 years age group Robert Llewellyn won the backstroke and Jack Vaughan the butterfly event, and together with Dan Hartwright and Dan West secured second place in the medley relay.
In the under-14s, Jess Lloyd had a terrific swim to clinch the backstroke, with Ben Rimington securing second place in the breaststroke.
Together with Adam Lee, Jack Vaughan and Tom Hartwright, Rimington finished second in the medley relay.
In the open age group, Nick Houston won the individual freestyle event, with second places going to Kat Llewellyn in the individual medley, Amy Piper in the freestyle and Chris Jenkinson in the breaststroke.
In an exciting finale, the open freestyle relay swimmers clinched the runners-up spot, winning the final two events of the evening.
The ladies team of Charlotte Llewellyn and daughter Kat, Jess Garvey and Amy Piper won an enthralling race, which was followed by a finger tip win for the men, Sean Mitchell, Chris Jenkinson, Nick Houlston and Sean Storey.
