Phones ring in points

TABLE TENNIS: In Division One of the Bromsgrove and Redditch League, West Midland Phones B' were at home to SPSP and won 6-4.

Gary Jackson starred for Phones, winning all three of his singles, with Ian Maybury and Fred Harrison getting one each.

Jackson and Maybury also won the doubles to win the match. For SPSP, Dave Elliott and Steve Nicholls both won two games each.

Barnt Green B' also won 6-4 away at Droitwich Tigers.

Mike Langston was man of the match, winning all of his three singles for Droitwich, but they only won one more through Peter Wozniak.

For Barnt Green, Ian Scott and Mike Evetts both won two singles each plus the doubles. Kash Aktor got their other win.

Bentley Arrows A' went down 8-2 away at West Midland Phones A'.

Karl Manning won all of his three singles for Phones, with Roger Ellerington and Colin Platt winning two each.

Manning and Ellerington also won the doubles. For Bentley, Mick Kendall got their two wins.

Astwood Bank won 9-1 away at Droitwich Sharks with Peter Roddy and Nigel Anson both winning their three singles for the Bank, before also taking the doubles.

Jim Connor got their other two wins.

Richard McGee got Droitwich's one win when he beat Connor 5-11, 11-8, 14-12 and 11-6.

In the other game in Division One, Droitwich Hawks beat Droitwich Print 10-0.

The best game in Division two was between Bentley Terriers and Bentley Rocs, with the Terriers just getting home 6-4.

For the winners, Peter Hartles and Anita Bennett both won two singles, with Martin Borg getting one.

Bennett and Hartles also won the doubles. For the Rocs, Ian Watson won two, with Brian Askey and Kevan Mabbot getting one each.

Dodford had a good 8-2 win at home to Droitwich Eagles. Captain Eff Davis won his three singles for Dodford, with Peter Swinbourne and John Imm getting two wins each.

Davis and Swimbourne also won the doubles. Jack Goldstall got Droitwich's two wins.

Barnt Green Hornets had an easy 9-1 win away at Bentley Arrows C'.

Paul Grigg and Graham Farrell both won three singles for the Hornets with Ivor Anderson winning two.

Grigg and Anderson also won the doubles.

Christian Barnes got Bentley's one win when he beat Anderson 15-13, 14-12-9-11,9-11,11-4.
