FOOTBALL: “Sharpen up” is the warning from Droitwich Spa boss Tom Goss to his players, after they squandered the lead twice in their 2-2 draw against against Dotshill Colts.
Despite putting their opening day 7-0 defeat to Castle Vale JKS behind them with their first point of the Midland Combination Division One season, Goss is demanding more from his team.
Spa took the lead on two occasions but goals from Sean Parrish and Chris Everett were cancelled out.
And Goss believes a change of attitude is required if his side are to start winning games.
He said: “Last week we didn’t deserve anything from the game so I had no qualms there.
“But we have got one point from two newly promoted teams and some people around the club think that is alright.
“We were on top and the game should have been ours, but their second goal probably highlighted everything that has been wrong about us.
“That is not good enough and I think we have seriously got to look at ourselves.
“As a group of players we need to be more street-smart and savvy.”
Spa are due to face Earlswood Town at home tonight.
They host Stockingford AAA on Saturday, before the Bank Holiday Monday visit to Thimblemill REC.
