Droitwich duo through to final

DROITWICH golfers Julia Kyte and Pauline Welvaert have won through to the national final of the Australian Spoons, a stableford foursomes competition for club golfers run by the English Women’s Golf Association.

The pair will represent EWGA’s Midlands South Region in the final, which will take place during the English counties’ championship at Pleasington, Lancashire, in September.

There they will take on the qualifiers from five other regions.

The Australian Spoons competition is open to players with handicaps between 21 and 36.

Julia plays off 21 while Pauline is a 22 handicapper and they amassed 38 stableford points in the regional final at Kings Norton.

Julia had a double reason to celebrate as it was also her birthday.
