BROMSGROVE Rovers boss John Snape is closing in on the signing of former Green’s forward Marlon Walters.

Walters, and his club captain at present club Cradley Town JJ Cole, had verbally agreed to join the Greens and were expected at the Victoria Ground yesterday (Tuesday) to sign.

Walters also numbers Wolves , Chasetown, Hednesford and Willenahll amongst his former clubs and had a previous spell at Bromsgrove under Rod Brown.

Cole led the midfield as well as the team as Cradley performed well in the Midland Alliance last season.

Snape needs to boost his squad as he has seen a number of players leave to join former Bromsgrove boss Rod Brown at Stratford Town recently.

But he was confident this week he could persuade midfielder Sam Alsop to stay at the club.

Snape said: “Sam is still undecided on his future and needs to think about what is best for him which he is doing at the moment.

“ I hope very much that is to stay with us because he has been a valuable player to Bromsgrove, he has the right attitude and would be an important part of my plans.”

Snape met the fans at an open forum this week when he was due to outline his plans for the season.

Meanhwile, season tickets at the early bird rate are available up until Monday with adults paying £145 and children just £10.
