Evenson puzzled

BROMSGROVE CC skipper Mark Evenson was left perplexed after his team crashed to 55 all out and lost heavily against Walmley in the Birmingham and District Premier League.

The Boars restricted the home side to 218-5 and looked set for a third consecutive win, but collapsed to lose by 163 runs.

Evenson said: “Having chased 270 successfully the previous week we were confident of getting this total but it just didn't happen for us.

“Everything we got a nick on seemed to go straight to one of their fielder’s hands yet when they were batting, all the little nicks seemed to go for four so we probably didn’t have the best of luck either.

“But no excuses we played badly and never got going in our innings. “I think we can put it down to one of those days but also full credit to Walmley who bowled well on that wicket and deserved to win.

“It was a funny weekend again results wise in the league and I suppose we could have capitalised on that but it just shows what a close division this is.

“The disappointing thing for us is it came on the back of two great wins in a row so it is hard to see where this performance came from.

“But it is important not to dwell on it and move on to the next game, against Kenilworth which is a winnable fixture but again could go either way.”

Lyndon Jones will still be away for the Kenilworth game, and Alexei Kervesee could be needed by Worcestershire who have a four day game at Old Trafford.
