Daniels praises players' attitude

BROMSGROVE Rovers boss Steve Daniels has praised the attitude of his ‘young guns’ amid uncertain times for the club.

Although Rovers have not been getting great results recently, Daniels said his young team have been ‘first class’ for him.

Rovers lost 2-1 at home to Arlesey Town and remain third from bottom, 11 points above the relegation zone but with Barton Rovers having two games in hand.

There is also some doubt about whether Rovers - still in administration - will play at the Victoria Ground next season after Bromsgrove District Council advertised the lease (see front page article).

But Daniels said the players can only concentrate on football matters and that he was confident the results would come, after a decent showing at Romulus, where another young outfit lost 2-1.

He said: “These players are playing for the love of the game and the club and their attitude is spot on.

“That has not always been the case with the people who have left recently, but everything is being done properly at the moment, from the players turning up promptly for training and games, to their dress sense and attitude and hard work.”

“With all the problems we have had and have still got at the club, this is what we want from them and as well as being talented, they want to learn which is good.

“Luke Benbow is a case in point. He looks a real prospect and within five minutes against Arlesey he had hit the post and then went on to score.

“We have a period where the games are coming thick and fast and I could do with a squad of around 20 players, but that is not possible at the moment.

“But the ones who are here have impressed me and I have every confidence in them for the run in to the end of the season.”

Rovers now face three games in six days, starting at Biggleswade Town on Saturday and continuing at Sutton Coldfield on Monday (7.45pm).

The Slough Town game, postponed from last night due to Slough’s involvement in a county cup game, now takes place next Thursday at the Victoria Ground.
