DROITWICH’S Mike O’Toole secured his second Midland Counties title by a stunning fight back on Sunday.

The 13-year-old was left with a mountain to climb after his opponent, Coventry’s Luca Astolfi, had powered into a five-point lead in the first round in Bedworth.

Astolfi continued his assault into the second round, ending even further ahead, though O’Toole was now beginning to lift his work-rate and land some good shots of his own.

However, the Droitwich Amateur Boxing Club (DABC) member turned the fight on its head in the third and final round, when he systematically set about Astolfi, forcing the referee to administer a standing count and won by three clear points.

The pupil at Worcester’s Blessed Edward Oldcorne College now progresses to the National Schools Championships, when he will take on the regional winner from the North West in Manchester on Sunday.
