BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Keith Draper wants his side to seal the all-important third-place with victory at Shirley Town on Saturday.

Three points at their opponent’s Tilehouse Lane home would see the Rouslers take them a huge step towards ensuring third and leave them in pole-position for any extra promotion spots in the Midland Combination Division One.

Sporting can still be caught by Saturday’s opponents, Knowle and Lichfield, who all have games in hand, but only if they slip-up in their final two matches.

The Victoria Ground side are unbeaten in 11 league games, picking up 27 points out of a possible 33.

When Draper joined took the reins, Bromsgrove were mid-table and hampered by poor away form.

Draper said: “This can be described as a season-defining game for us but I think it’s more about the run we’ve been on.

“It’s simple, if we win on Saturday and finish third all our hard work in the second half of the season has paid off.”

Defender Nicky Martin is not available for Saturday’s clash but otherwise there are no new injury worries.

Sporting go into the game on the back of a record win for the club after they thrashed Phoenix United 11-2 on Saturday.

However, Draper took no satisfaction from the victory.

He said: “I did not enjoy beating a team like that, Phoenix kept their heads held high but that wasn’t an enjoyable experience.

“I was disappointed we conceded twice, they hadn’t scored for six games and we let two goals in.”
