THE future of local golf is looking bright as younger members of Gaudet Luce Golf Club took part in Droitwich GC’s Junior Open.

Brandan Sarfo came out on top, beating his nearest rival Tom Waldron by 13, with Callum Green coming third with 78 in total.

The best front nine went to James Drury with Matt Drury taking the honour of having nearest the pin.

Meanwhile, Gaudet Luce also provided the winning team in the Am-Am Open Team Event at Minchinhampton Golf Club in Gloucestershire. on Saturday.

Rob Amphlett, Alan Busby, Simon Lovering, and George Page won the event with a total score of 88 points.

Droitwich results — Junior Club Championship: 1 Thomas Evans 57; 2 Ben Blackmore 68 (c-b); 3 Sharna Lucas 68 (c-b). Best Gross: 1 James Drury 80; 2 Cameron Green 85.

Gents Seniors Medal — Division One: 1 Ade Cook 66 nett; 2 Ken Barratt 67; 3 Stan Pearson 70 (c-b).

Division Two: 1 Will Costello 69; 2 Richard Hunt 70; 3 Dave Bevan 72.

Elsewhere, Ombersley ladies golfers were back on the course after the cancellation of several matches due to the bad weather over recent weeks.

The first day’s prize went to Sue Hele (nett 69) who also won the July Medal and the second days prize went to Karen Tonks (nett 73).
