Runners battle a mudbath

MUDBATH conditions greeted Bromsgrove and Redditch runners when they contested the opening West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League which took place at Hatton.
There were huge fields in all categories and many of the athletes suffered falls, such were the testing conditions.
Beth Lloyd led Bromsgrove and Redditch home in the Under-11 girls race by snatching 27th place on the line from Kitty Luscombe, although both were credited with the same time.
Nicol Green grabbed 34th place just five seconds behind the leading pair with Flora Skinner claiming 47th place from a 138 strong field.
Olivia Worth came home in 24th place in the Under-13 girls race, half a minute ahead of Amy Mijovic-Cauldwell, who was 44th in another large field of 130. Amelia Tompkin came home 35th in the Under-15 girls race, with Ruth Gameson 49th and Abbie Kemp 64th out of 88 runners.
Megan Greissel was the only Bromsgrove and Redditch runner in the Under-17 race coming home 54th out of 57.
Trentham Roberts was 42nd in the Boys Under-11 race with Josh Osbourne-Patel 47th and Josh Keyte 70th out of 86.
Cameron Cooper claimed 27th place in the Under-13 boys race, just edging ahead of Josh Pearson, who was 30th with Elliot Omahony 67th out of 95.
Ben O’Connor bagged 44th place in the Under-15 boys event with Andrew Pearson 58th out of 74.
Callum Smith clinched 17th spot in the Under-17 contest, while James Downing was 38th, Alistair Mandando 42nd and Lewis Anderson 56th out of 57.
