Run is halted
TOWN under-13s Colts' fantastic winning run was halted by a 3-2 defeat at Callowbrook Swifts. It was fourth time lucky with this fixture as it had been called off three times before.
Town were unlucky early on when Matt Dyer put a free-kick just over and Cameron Wellington hit the crossbar with a header from a corner.
But they were made to pay when they were too slow coming out of defence and a hopeful punt over the top allowed Swifts a one-on-one to open the scoring.
Fortunately just on half-time Matt Russell hit a great free-kick into the roof of the net for the equaliser.
Town played even better in the second-half, but on one counter attack they missed a couple of tackles and allowed Swifts to cross the ball in from the left where the unlucky Dan Strangeslid the ball into his own net.
Pushing now to try and get the win, different formations were tried with Dan Arnold moving up to midfield, beating three players before crossing in for his brother Arnold who forced a goal-line save from the keeper with a brave challenge.
Cameron Wellington shot just wide from inside the box and Dan Strange hit a great shot from a quick Russell throw just over.
In the last couple of minutes, Town played four up front and the gaps in the formation allowed Swifts to knock in a third.
Such is the resilience of Town, they scored straight back when Ethan broke the off-side trap and scored his first for the team with a calm finish.
