Town draw blank for first time

TOWN under-13 Colts finished their season in fourth place as they failed to score for the first time this campaign in a 2-0 home defeat to Warriors.

Warriors had the better of the first half, but Ethan Godwin was unlucky when he was ruled offside when faced with a one-on-one after he appeared to have beaten the offside trap.

Early in the second-half, Town looked more like their usual selves with Matt Russell's free kick going just wide of the post, and the same player volleying just wide when picked out by a great cross from Cameron.

Town were caught ball watching though and a failure to pressurise the ball carrier allowed Warriors to unleash an unstoppable shot for a 1-0 lead midway through the second half.

Moments later, not clearing the ball allowed an easy second, but Town fought straight back and Cameron was unlucky not to score when he forced the keeper to make a good save from close range.

Pushing to try and get something back from the game, Town left gaps and only some great last ditch defending stopped Town slipping more goals.

Men of the match were Dan Higham and Connor Peplow with Andy Pugh getting the supporters' award.
