BROMSGROVE thirds continued their unbeaten start in Division Four of the Crusader Worcestershire League Division Four North with a 118-run victory over Himley.
After being put into bat, the Boars started solidly reaching 106-3, with Matt Byatt (36) providing the perfect start.
They overcame a tricky spell in the middle overs before Phil Thomas provided the highlight of the game with a match-winning innings of 158, smashing 29 boundaries in the process.
His heroics helped Bromsgrove to a final total of 280.
After the break, Himley started their innings brightly, reaching 95-3, before another match defining moment as Adam Jones took a brilliant catch at slip from Andy Davies' bowling.
A collapse followed as Himley were bowled out for 162, with Davies (5-61) and Steve Hazelden (4-55) doing the damage for the Boars.
It was a similar story for the club's fourth team, who reached the same score, but this time it was John Duffy leading the way with a personal best of 141.
Bromsgrove wasted no time in bowling the Himley side out and it was 13-year-old Lewis Cordes who was pick of the bowling with figures of 3-21.
