Pomeroy starts captaincy year

SANDRA Pomeroy and Liz Edmonds began their term as Ombersley Golf Club's captain and vice captain respectively at a tournament last month.

Ombersley Golf Club results: Pro Winter Trophy: Helen Lane - 37 points, Val Witham - 34 points, M.Leatherby - 34 points.

February Medal: Judy Cahill - 99-29-70, Ineke Stevenson - 100-30-70, Sue Wilson - 93-23-70.

Branson Classic: Jenny Kerridge - Net 63, Anne Smith - Net 70, Alison Griggs - Net 73.

The Swinging Seventies Trophy: Joyce Gray - Net 75.

March Medal: Helen Lane (Bronze medal winner) - Net 64, Sandra Pomeroy (Silver medal winner) - Net 68, Althea Rannie - Net 69.

Winter Pairs: Winners - Todd Fisher and Audrey Hewitt, Runners-up - Janet Gore and Ineke Stevenson.

Gittins Trophy (mixed competition): Winners - Bryan Hewitt and Jean Golden - 39points, Runners up - M. Woolridge and Sue Wilson - 38 points.

Florida Cup: Liz Edmonds - 37 points, Ineke Stevenson - 37 points, Althea Rannie - 36 points.

Want to get into golf? Free golf coaching taster sessions are on offer at Ombersley Golf Club.

The sessions are available for juniors on April 19 and May 17 from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and on June 9 from 5pm to 6pm.

Ladies sessions are on the April 25, May 14 and June 11 from 11.30am to 12.30pm, and for mixed adults on May 3 and June 7 from 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

The sessions are open to beginners and non-members, and provide an ideal opportunity to experience the game of golf.

To book a lesson, with a PGA Professional please telephone the golf club on 01905 620747, golf clubs and balls are provided free of charge.

Free golf coaching is an initiative provided by the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women's Golf Association (EWGA), designed to help people get into golf.

Beginners of any age, gender or background can experience golf for the first time by registering at a participating venue and receive a free coaching taster session with a PGA Professional.
