TWO WHEELS: Scott Mead takes a corner on his Aprilia 125.

IT was a mixed weekend for Bromsgrove's Scott Mead in the latest rounds of the NG Road Racing series at Brands Hatch.

The youngster qualified in first place in his Formula 125 class for both races.

But he endured mixed fortunes, winning the first race, but failing to finish the second after falling off his Aprilia 125.

In the first race on Saturday, he took the lead, which was closely contested by a couple of other racers in his class.

Despite tussling to hold on to the lead a couple of times, he crossed the line in first place.

The heavens opened for race two, and not fazed by the tricky conditions, Mead took the lead again.

But after losing the front end of the bike he was unable to recover.

The weekend's results leave Mead in fourth place in the championship on 39 points.
