CLOUDS and 18 to 20mph winds greeted the 15 sailors at the Laser Open at Barnt Green Sailing Club.
The competition on Saturday included seven boats from the home club.
With the numbers down on last year, mainly due to the forecast conditions, the competitors set out for the scheduled three races of the day.

After a general recall at the start of the first race and the first lap of the course completed, Tom Hayes had soon taken control of the race and pulled away from the fleet with an impressive lead.
He held on to the end of the race with David Harper in second and Steve Harper in third position.
Race two saw another even line at the start and again, Hayes appeared at the first windward mark, along with home sailor Rob Lennox.
The rest of the fleet chased after the pair for the remainder of the race, which finished with Hayes taking his second victory of the day and the Open title.
Lennox was second and Matthew Holbourn third.
The final race was the closest of the day, with five boats constantly jostling for first place.
Hayes sat out the race and eventually after an hour of changing positions, David Harper came through the finish line in first position ahead of Steve Harper and Hobourn.
Final results: 1) Tom Hayes (Blithfield), 2) David Harper (Draycote Water), 3) Steve Harper (Draycote Water).
