ROVERS caretaker boss Duane Darby has refused to throw in the towel on his side's battle for British Gas Business Premier Division survival, but described their situation as "horrible".
The Greens have a mountain to climb if they are to avoid relegation to the BGB Midlands Division One, after they lost 2-1 to relegated Cirencester on Saturday.
Their plight was made worse as fellow strugglers Rugby Town, Corby and Hitchin all picked up crucial wins.
Rovers' fate is now out of their hands going into their two remaining fixtures against title chasers Team Bath and Rod Brown's Rugby.
And while admitting the deck is stacked firmly against his side, Darby believes they can still beat the drop.
He said: "Now it is out of our hands which is horrible. I still think 48 points could still be enough.

"We had the easier option of going to Cheshunt and Cirencester to win, but we didn't do that.
"If results go our way on Saturday and we win, it could be back in our own hands again."
Team Bath visit the Victoria Ground this Saturday with a massive incentive for victory. They are currently locked in a three-way tussle with King's Lynn and Halesowen to claim the division's sole automatic promotion spot.
However, Rovers will be looking to take inspiration from their 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Twerton Park in September.
Darby made no secret of his feelings about recent results, admitting he was "embarrassed".
But the caretaker boss is backing the club to complete a double over the Bath side.
He added: "I have been embarrassed with the results.
"You take it home with you and unfortunately my wife has had the brunt of it.
"It is my local club and there is nothing worse than being out there and people come up to you and ask questions. But we aren't down and we aren't out yet.
"Team Bath are coming here for the title, but for me we have more to play for than them. They look to get the ball down and play and it will be difficult to do that on our pitch."
Darby praised the club's supporters after Saturday's defeat, and he has called for one last throw of the dice from the green and white army.
He said: "It is our last game in front of our home fans.
"If there is one thing about it, the fans were tremendous on Saturday.
"We need one big push from them again but at the same time we have to give them something to get behind us about."
