BROMSGROVE Bears savoured success at the weekend as the the club notched up three wins out of a possible four.

The women recorded their first win of the season in the National League Midlands Division South West with a 53-51 victory over Bristol Storm.

The Bears came out strong and led the game from the buzzer.

Shots were dropping from the perimeter for Jessica Cooper and Dawn Hall.

Catrina Yang ran the floor well too, scoring off fast breaks to give three Bears players double figures at the end of the game.

The Bears went in to the locker room at half-time up 25-21 ahead and despite a Bristol fightback, Lucy Allen made sure of the win with two crucial free throws.

Cooper recorded an impressive 21 personal points, with Allen bagging 12 and Yang 10.

Meanwhile, the men’s team recorded their second win of the campaign in the National League Division Four as they saw off College of West Anglia Fury 68-41 on Saturday.

The Bears produced a dominant display and Joshua Betts (19), Robin Hall (11), Jerome Johns (11) and Daniel Bolsher (10) bagged the points.

Bromsgrove under-16s girls got the better of Bucks Hornets 62-49 in the National League at South Bromsgrove High School.

England under-16 international Rebecca Taylor led the winning team well.

The under-15s boys were edged out by seven points by Derby.

Liam Healey top scored in the game with 21 points.
