Droitwich 13, Shipston-on-Stour 3

DAN Wilkinson was the match winner as he bagged two fine tries for Droitwich in a tight Midlands Two West (South) clash.

Spa demonstrated their defensive qualities and discipline as they got back on track against the Rams.

In a fairly uneventful game, it was left to utility player Wilkinson to produce the two highlights.

On both occasions he showed great tenacity to cross the line after some great flowing team moves.

Unfortunately, there were not many other try scoring opportunities for either side in a game where the defences were both on top.

Ryan Handley did manage an early penalty to add to his excellent points tally this season and Shipston scored penalty in the second-half but could not add to this despite their best efforts.

The hosts were disappointed not to have secured a try scoring bonus point, but credit must go to the resilient Shipston defence who limited Spa to minimal opportunities.

Victory ensured they bounced back from their loss to Dunlop and kept the pressure on third-placed Kidderminster Carolians.

Droitwich entertain Banbury on Saturday (2.15pm ko).
