Miserable run goes on for Spa

DROITWICH saw their winless streak in the West Midlands Division One stretched to 12 games after they lost to Leamington 3-1 on Saturday.

With three games of the season left, Spa are bottom of the table and only the slimmest chances of escaping relegation.

They would have to win their last three matches against Bloxwich, Market Drayton and Wednesbury and hope the two sides above them, Stafford and Whitchurch, lose.

However, their rivals for the drop also have games in hand.

Spa entertain fourth-placed Bloxwich at home on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the men’s second team continued on from their win last week with a much-needed 5-2 victory at Redditch, who lie one place above then in the league.

Droitwich’s goals came from Marcus Clayton, Craig Smith and a hat-trick from Matt Darby in a game that saw three of the home team have three players sent off.

This weekend saw Droitwich thirds enhance their chances of staying up as they edged out Hampton-in-Arden 4-3.

Wayne Plumpton (2), Paul Woodwood and Oli Dunn scored for Spa.

Droitwich are at home to Finchfield on Saturday (3pm start) hoping to continue there winning streak.
