TRIO from Bromsgrove and Redditch AC tested their mettle against some of the country’s best runners at the English Schools County Cross-Country Championships.

Katie Plummer, Livvy Worth and Megan Nicod qualified for the tournament as part of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire team.

The three came through individual school competitions, district championships and county trials to earn the right to race at Catton Park in South Derbyshire.

After a night of heavy rain the races were delayed as courses had to be re-routed to avoid new ponds which had appeared overnight.

Plummer, who attends Bromsgrove North High School, took part in the intermediate girls competition, finishing the 3.7-kilometre course in 16 minutes and six seconds.

Worth and Nicod, both year eight students took on the 3.2km junior girls competition.

Alvechurch Middle School pupil Worth finished in 13.15 just ahead of Nicod (13.28), who attends Ridgeway Middle School.
