Fairfield make holiday point
5:00pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in Local
FAIRFIELD Villa proved a big draw over the Bank Holiday weekend when sharing a 2-2 verdict with Hampton before finishing off with a 1-1 scoreline against Feckenham.
Villa looked destined for a rare success against Hampton after Nick Briggs gave them a first-half lead.
But Villa left with a point after Scott MacKellar snatched an 89th minute leveller.
Fairfield also began brightly against Feckenham and led 1-0 at half time through 17-year-old prospect Oscar Collins.
They should have been further in front but Jack Albutt failed to capitalise from a fifth minute penalty.
Villa boss Paul Oakes said: “It was a game of two halves against Feckenham.
“They were the better side in the second so a 1-1 scoreline was a fair result in what had proved a poor game.
“We should have taken all three points against Hampton, a side we haven’t beaten for the last five years.
“The game should have been wrapped up in our favour by half time, but we didn’t take our chances.”
Villa will be out for revenge on Saturday when they entertain Aston in the Presidents Cup.
Aston have already beaten Villa in the league 2-1 courtesy of a 94th minute winner.
