Rouslers draw Bees' sting to win

SPORTING got back on track after two successive defeats with an impressive win over local rivals Studley at the Beehive.
Goals for Matt Poyner and veteran poacher Mark Bellingham ensured the Rouslers bounced back from their disappointing mid-week loss to Littletons and drew them level with the Bees in the Midland Combination Premier.
Studley started the slightly quicker with Jack Cresswell testing Jake Bedford in the Sporting goal with a good header on seven minutes.
But Sporting gradually exerted more control on the game and they capitalised on this dominance on the 13th minute.
After winning a corner, Will Tibbetts floated over a perfect ball to the middle of the goal, where Poyner confidently headed home from short range.
The home team rallied for a short while and despite a couple of efforts from Creswell and Reece Hewitt, the away defence was not really troubled.
Poyner had a header cleared off the line, while Bellingham spun round in front of the goal only to see his shot go wide of the left hand post.
Bellingham was then denied by keeper Richard Taylor but Sporting doubled their lead in the 52nd minute, when Ben Judd could only divert the striker’s shot into the back of his own net.
Tempers flared on 61 minutes after Sam Wilkinson up ended former Rousler James Blake.
The Sporting midfielder was shown a yellow card but Blake was sent for an early bath after an attempted head butt in retaliation.
With Sporting risking nothing by keeping possession and Studley unable to make their mark on the game the match provided little entertainment from then onwards.
A Tibbetts free-kick grazed the post on 65 minutes and another flare up just before the end saw Luke Darby and Reece booked after squaring up.
Sporting captain Darby said: "I was happy with both the result and the performance.
“We controlled the match from the start and scored two good goals on a difficult pitch."
