SENIOR senseis from the Worcestershire-based English Karate Association met legendary master Moirio Higaonna, the highest ranked master of the Goju-ryu discipline.
Bromsgrove’s Stuart Hughes and Kidderminster’s Jason Lester visited Liverpool University to attend an historic 40-year anniversary course in honour of Higaonna, who is a tenth dan.
The 73-year-old is an icon of the martial art and this was perhaps the pair’s final chance to meet him.
Upon arrival, senseis Hughes and Lester were welcomed by various other UK masters before receiving one-on-one tuition.
The duo also attended the Japanese Karate Association course in Sussex and trained with World Champion Sensei Ueki.
