NEIL Bates has been elected as Droitwich Tennis Club’s new chairman.

Bates has been playing tennis for more than 35 years and has been a member of the club since moving to the town in 2007.

He has been the club’s men’s captain for the last three years.

“Droitwich is a really friendly place to play tennis and I am looking forward to helping develop the club even further in the future, said the new chairman.

The club has recently invested nearly £50,000 into new court surfaces, caters for tennis at all levels and has one of the fastest growing junior sections in the area, all of which are good news for the future. Meanwhile, Bromsgrove’s ladies’ A team defeated Ross A 4-0.

The Ladies E Team took on Droitwich F to won 4-0.

The Division Nine match saw Bromsgrove Ladies G team get maximum points against Bewdley D.

Pick of the results was the Men’s A team’s 4-0 victory against Stourbridge in Division Two.

There was also success for the Men’s E side over Droitwich D, while the mixed B side did lose out 3-1 to Worcester.
