ROSS Baxter believes Bromsgrove can still escape relegation, but insists they must stop the rot at fellow strugglers Dudley Kingswinford in Saturday’s must-win relegation clash.

Second from bottom Boars will be aiming to end their nine-match losing streak at the only team lower than them in the National Two North.

The Black Country side are the division’s whipping boys with 20 defeats all season.

While DK’S look set to drop out of the league at the end of the season, Bromsgrove have a slim chance of survival.

They are 13 points away from safety, but will need to produce a huge effort to escaping the bottom three.

Baxter is predicting a tense affair at Heathbrook.

He said: “If we were to win all of our games then we would get out of the situation we are in.

“But if you look at our form you would not think it is very likely.

“We must start rebuilding our confidence and to do that we’ve got to win at DK’s.

“They will be thinking the same thing as us and will have also targeted a win on Saturday.”

Bromsgrove, though, did earn their first point in eight games in Saturday’s home defeat to Harrogate.

Bromsgrove had dominated the match but paid the price for a three mistakes, which allowed them to score three tries and win the match.

He said: “In some respects we played well but we paid the price for three sloppy mistakes.

“If we can build on that performance at DK’s then we can win on Saturday.

“But we need to reduce the number of errors we make and also becoming more ruthless.

“We put a lot of focus on the Harrogate game but it didn’t quite come off.

“There were good parts, but in the end we made mistakes and paid the price.”

Baxter has no new injuries to worry about and will also be able to recall Craig Mortelmans, who suffered concussion a fortnight ago.

Baxter added: “It will be the same group of players we have had all season.

“They need to stick to the basics and remember they are good players.”
