HOCKEY: Droitwich men continue to leak goals in West Midlands Division Two after they were thrashed 6-1 at third-placed Atherstone Adders.

Spa made a bright start before the hosts began the rout in the 15th minute.

Guy Newsome had chances to equalise, but Atherstone soon doubled their lead.

Their third came after 30 minutes when keeper George Robertshaw was beaten in a one-on-one.

A fourth goal came moments later only for Matt Darbyshire to give Spa hope early in the second half.

Nick Bull missed a gilt-edged chance and Atherstone went on to complete the rout.

Spa travel to Evesham on Saturday (1.30pm start).

Meanwhile, Droitwich Seconds were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Ludlow.

Nick Bates fired Spa ahead when he got a deft touch to a Lee Wakelam cross.

Droitwich keeper Cameron Grant saw an effort come off him as Ludlow made it 1-1.

Tommy Ross’ effort restored Droitwich’s lead only for the visitors to draw level.

The seconds are due to entertain Barlaston on Saturday (1.30pm start).

The ladies saw their first-team home clash with Redditch postponed, while the seconds cruised to a 5-1 win over Worcester.

First-half goals from Sophie Blackmore and Katie Brooker handed them the advantage before Worcester halved the deficit before the break.

Spa’s superiority showed in the second half as Claire Darby, Katie Davies and Jenny Court added further goals to wrap up a comfortable win.

The ladies’ seconds are due to return to action at Stourport on Saturday (10am start).
