TITLE-CHASING Bromsgrove Ladies recorded their fourth win in five matches as they hammered Stourport thirds 8-0 in the Worcestershire League Division One.

Victory means the second-placed side tightened their grip on second spot behind leaders Harborne seconds.

It also ensured they bounced back from last week’s 4-3 loss to Badsey.

A superb display of attacking hockey saw Bromsgrove beat an inexperienced Stourport team.

Kate Jones opened the scoring in the 18th minute after good work by Jo Eddy and Naomi Cartwright.

Tricky Burton bagged a second, before Harriet Finney tucked the ball home on the far post to fire Bromsgrove 3-0 up.

Two minutes later, Burton and Maz Cooksey worked another opening and Finney added her second.

The hosts kept up the pressure in the second half and Heather Nunnerly scored from a penalty corner.

Burton then made it 6-0 with a neat flick.

Superb interplay between Nunnerley, Cartwright and Burton led to Cartwright neatly finishing off with the seventh before Nunnerley added the eighth and final goal.

Meanwhile, the thirds kept up their promotion push with a comfortable 3-0 win over Worcester.

Goals from Sarah Gormley, Stacey Edwards and Vic Longmore were more than enough though.

If Bromsgrove had converted half their chances they could have scored eight.

The seconds lost 2-1 to Division Two leaders Barford.

l Meanwhile, the Men's senior team hammered third-placed Ludlow 6-1 to remain joint top of West Midlands Division One.

Karl Troth opened the scoring and Bromsgrove then doubled their lead when Tom Jennings poked home.

Matt Russell showed some class to bag their third. In the second half, Jake Bubbles scored and Troth notched up two more to seal a hat-trick.

Bromsgrove play Keswick on Sunday in the National Cup quarter-final.
