THREE junior sides from Bromsgrove RFC headed to south west London for the 75th anniversary of the prestigious tournament with the U13s looking to regain the Preparatory title they won in 2011.

They got off to the perfect start, going unbeaten throughout their group to progress to the knock-out stage and where they swept aside Kings House and Shrewsbury to reach the semi-finals.

However, that’s where they came unstuck, losing 26-7 to St Martin’s Ampleforth.“It’s much further than we expected so we’re happy with the performance overall.

“We’re very proud,” said 13-year-old Ben Turner, who plays his club rugby for Bromsgrove.

Meanwhile Bromsgrove’s boys U16 team reached the last 16 of the Colts competition.

The U18s just failed to progress out of their group in the Festival event.
