THE Ladies' third team at Bromsgrove has earned national recognition.
The team, which won promotion in the Worcestershire League this season, has been shortlisted for the women’s team of the season award, which will be held at England Hockey's Bisham Abbey headquarters on May 14.
Sixty per cent of the team's members have come through the club's back to hockey programmes, which have now been running for over four years.
The success of the scheme has now raised the very real prospect of the club running four sides for the first time next September.
Head coach Alan Gormley said: "For several years now my wife Sarah and I have been running back to hockey courses.
"Over this period lots of local ladies have returned to the sport or given it a go for the first time."
The club launches its eight-week-long spring sessions as part of England Hockey’s nationwide campaign starting on May 6.
