TEENAGER Candy Lockett has been in dominant form at two major tournaments this month.

The 15-year-old was in excellent form at the Hereford and Worcester Schools Championships a fortnight ago.

She then was the person to beat in field events at the County Championships on Saturday.

At the schools, Lockett won the heptathlon event after successfully coming through the hurdles, long jump, shot putt, javelin, 200m and 800m.

Candy, a student at Bromsgrove School, also set a new personal best in the three kilogram shot with a throw of 11.04 metres.

Her success booked her a spot at the Midlands Championships in June, where she will represent the county.

She followed up that success at the County Championships representing club Worcester AC.

The Belboroughton-based athlete competed in the Under-17s girls section and won the shot putt, discuss and javelin – a title she has held for four consecutive years.

Candy also became County champion in the three kilogram hammer with a huge throw of 45.96 metres, setting a new county record and personal best in the process.

These successes resulted in her being named Worcester AC’s athlete of the month.
