BROMSGROVE and Redditch Athletics club saw a two year club record smashed.
Martin Aspley-Davis, Rob Mole, Calvin Scotlock and Andrew Freeman smashed the existing 4x400m record and set a new time of three minutes and 51.12 seconds as they raced to victory in the Midlands Veterans Track and Field League in Stourport.
Aspley-Davis said: “I didn’t think we would get the record but why not? You’ve always got to go for it.”
Scotlock ran the first leg and set the team up narrowly in second. A swift changeover saw Mole romp past his first place rival to edge in front.
With the lead extending, Freeman held onto first place before releasing the baton to Aspley-Davis who pushed home and surpassed the previous time of 3.59.
There were also first place finishes for Polly Gerner ( 200m W50), Sharon Tonks ( 2km Walk W35), Mel Hepke (high jump W40), Peter Mould (M60 200m), Aspley-Davis ( M35 200m), Andrew Freeman (M35 800m), Scoltlock (M40 800m,M35 2km) and Clive Brown ( M60 Javelin).
